What a way to go

Walking down that highway
Moving down that road
Doing what we want to
Doing what we're told

Don't know where we're going
Just one thing we know
Somewhere there's an ending
What a way to go

Cant remember how it started
I know I went to school
Teachers openinhg doorways
Making crazy rules

Walking down ...

Sometimes I had lovers
Sometimes I had friends
Felt like a new beginning
Sometimes it just ends

I'm walking down that highway
I'm moving down that road
Doing what I want to
Doing what I'm told

I don't know where I'm going
There's just one thing I know
Somewhere there's an ending
What a way to go

This is one of my own.

It started with me messing about with a guitar with open D tuning.  And a slightly plaintive sound .
The words came out almost on their own - starting with walking down that highway.
What a way to go.  Way is the road, or how far, or just how.  Can be a question or an exclamation.  Go is travel or depart.  Which makes about 12 possible meanings.
